MX-445™ has been developed as an liquid alternative to powdered Aluminum Isopropoxide (AIP). AIP is a widely used chemical that works as a catalyst in Meerwein-Pondorf reductions, Oppenauer oxidations, and Tischenko reactions and as a material used in the production of dielectric ceramics. MX-445 comes supplied as a 60% active aluminum alkoxide in technical white oil solvent. The carrier solvent may be modified to fit the customer’s specific requirements.
MX-445 is a liquid mixture of aluminum alkoxides in a technical white oil that offers several benefits over powdered AIP:
No dust explosion risk
Non-hazardous Classification – the mixture is not considered flammable per shipping regulations
Typical flash point of 170 ºF versus 56 ºF for powdered AIP
Consistency – the overall aluminum content is tightly controlled resulting in a more consistent product
